No More Shaming
By Madison Moericke
For years I’ve witnessed women shaming. Women making other women feel bad for staying home with the children, while the husband worked…women making other women feel bad for working while the husband stayed home, or women making women feel bad for putting their child in daycare, while both parents work…for getting their hair done with their husband’s money but in the same sentence requiring that a woman look good for her man when he comes home…Women shaming other women for never having a child…for having too many children…for using disposable diapers…for not breast feeding…for being leaders instead of followers. You name it, a women has shamed another women for it!
I don’t know about you, but I’m sure at one point in your life you have fallen victim to some kind of hurtful words from other women.
On behalf of women everywhere, I’m so very sorry for all the years of hurt that we have caused you. I’m sorry that you feel like you can’t go to Target without makeup, that you feel embarrassed about what you look like in a bathing suit, that you feel naked in the garden…because it was never intended for you to feel ashamed of yourself, it was never intended for you to feel ugly…it was never intended that God’s greatest creations be as hurtful and unkind as we have become. So today…let’s take a stand.”
