I Choose…ME

I have a confession to make.

Last week Netflix dropped all 13 episodes of Fuller House, and the little girl inside of me just couldn’t handle the nostalgia. Like at all. I binge watched all of them and now they are all over and I’m stuck back in the ‘90s! Netflix…how rude!

I know, I know. Clearly there needs to be an intervention. However, many times creative downloads come to me when I take the time to pause and rest my working brain in a mindless TV show and that’s exactly what happened while I was watching the last episode.

One of the character’s makes a very profound statement. (Don’t worry, I won’t say who or why because I don’t want to spoil it for you, and my BFF’s tell me that I have a habit of spoiling shows for them so…shhhh!!!!)

The statement she says is, ”I choose…me.”

I choose me.

When is the last time you said that to yourself or out loud? Have you EVER said those words? They are very powerful words that hold the secret to overcoming and living beautifully whole.

Three little words.

So easy to say.

But yet…most of us don’t choose ourselves. Ever.

How do I know? I know because last week on social media we asked you some questions. And here’s just a small glimpse at what we found:

Question: Yes or No…Is it easy for you to find the time to rest and recharge every week?

The answers:

  • Heck no! I wish!

  • What’s that?

  • No!

  • No

  • No! (and many more “NO’s” followed this one)

Most of us believe that we will get less done if we choose ourselves. We believe the lie that we don’t have time for ourselves. And we believe we can pause and take time for ourselves when the kids are older, or we believe a version of all of these reasons and excuses! Clearly we women are not alone in thinking of a million reasons why we can’t take care of our own needs like we want to.

Isn’t it time we change that thought? I think so. I believe the writers of Fuller House were on to something when they put that moment in their episode. Ladies – it’s time that we rise up and courageously choose to take care of ourselves!

So where do we start? Where SHOULD we start?

  1. It starts with a choice and a declaration…”I choose me.” Say it out loud today and give yourself permission! Will it feel strange. Of course! This is a new habit you are forming here, Honey. But it needs to be said, and more than that, you desperately need to hear it.
  1. It starts with blocking off just a few moments here and there throughout your day to put the phone aside and just breathe. Start there. Go outside and enjoy the sunshine for 5 minutes. Just 5 minutes!
  1. It starts with learning how to PAUSE. We don’t know how to do this so let go of the pressure of figuring it all out on your own and join us for the Art of the PAUSE Teleclass on May 2nd, 2016.

Honey, it’s okay to take care of yourself! It really is. But it won’t happen until you take a step in that direction. We can’t wait to help you on the journey. Choose you. You’re worth it!

Much Love,

Coach Mandy
