Welcome to the Girls on the Big Blue Couch™ Podcast!
In this “Ask the Girls” episode, we answer your questions about God, fear, and self-pity. Later on in the episode, Mandy shares a Walk by Faith coaching segment about walking through the valleys of life. (And remember to catch this week’s Truth About Me statement at the end!)
REAL TALK: It’s time for another “Ask the Girls” segment! Today we answer the following questions sent in by our coaching clients:
1. How do you keep pain, disappointment, etc. from turning into self-pity?
2. What does it mean to live in the “Fear of God?” and how is this a good thing when we are not supposed to live in fear?
WALK BY FAITH: “Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil, for you are with me; your rod and your staff, they comfort me.” (Psalm 23:4) The valley of the shadow of death is full of its own kind of beauty, but you don’t see that until you’re safely on the other side and miles away from it. When you are in a season of pain and confusion it’s hard to see the beauty in moving forward and overcoming obstacles.

Your action steps this week are:
1. This week, give yourself some grace when it comes to fear. Encourage yourself to be in AWE of God, instead of afraid of Him. ASK Him to show you what that looks like in your life!
2. Pay attention to how Self-Pity shows up in your life. What does it sound like from your mouth? Identify it. Acknowledge it. Then forgive and write down 10 things you are grateful for each day to train your brain to focus on gratitude instead of self-pity.
