3 Ways Courage Will Help You Create Your Best Life

Courage is a funny thing. It is defined as “strength in the face of pain” or ” the ability to do something that frightens one.” So in order to have courage you need to be afraid or in pain. That begs the question, why would we want courage? How does courage help you create your best life?

1. It makes us strong

It really is that simple. Doing things that make us afraid, vulnerable, or even uncomfortable allow us to stretch our courage muscles and grow into the best versions of ourselves.
I don’t like having strangers pray for me. I really don’t. But last weekend at church I felt a nudge to go get prayer after the service was over. I was scared, I didn’t want to do it but I did it anyway. And it was great. It made me wonder why I hadn’t done it sooner cuz it certainly wasn’t as scary as I imagined it to be and it gave me the strength to want to do it again.

2. It makes us adventurers

Think about it. If we were all afraid all the time no one would do anything ever. All the discoveries in human history would just be footnotes to a life we only dreamed of. When courage steps in we are emboldened to try new things, reach for the stars and experience the life God prepared for us. I don’t know about you but I don’t want fear to to destroy my dreams. I want to experience life to the fullest and pursue the adventures that are calling to me.

3. It makes us examples

Make no mistake younger generations watch us and take notes. How do we react in a fearful situation? Do we allow ourselves to be open and vulnerable? I want future generations to learn from us that you can experience fear but you don’t have to be controlled by it. This is something we can do together. Write down a few things you would try if you weren’t afraid to do them. Maybe it’s as simple as starting a blog or a YouTube channel, maybe you just need a stranger to pray for you. Whatever it is, be bold, chase your dreams and become the most courageous person you wanted to be.
